Required Qualifications

Essential: Relevant childcare qualification to level 2 or ongoing training in childcare; Up to date DBS; Food Hygiene; A positive approach to gaining further qualifications and trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Room Maintenance - ensuring the room is safe, clean and hygenic for the children at all times, with resources returned at the end of each activity and all areas wiped and cleaned down
  • Health & Safety - maintaining adequate cleanliness standards throughout the room on an on-going basis
  • Child Protection - to support qualified staff in safeguarding children
  • Key Worker Support - supporting qualified practitioners in their key worker duties with children in the room

Skills

  • Good communication skills, with children, colleagues, advisors and parents/carers
  • Understanding the EYFS
  • Good verbal skills for providing feedback to parents/carers and colleagues
  • A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities
  • Able manage own workload and support the team
  • Desired – Mandarin

Experience

  • Experience of caring for children aged aged 6 months to 5.
  • Experience of working in a small group.
  • Helpful and flexible in approach to work.
  • Sound knowledge of nursery rhymes or child stories would be advantageous.
  • Able to keep children entertained.

Purpose to Role

  1. Provide support to the qualified staff team by providing the majority of the floor practice and work to ensure that they can focus on observations, planning and practice
  2. In doing so, to ensure that safeguarding and policy is met at all times
  3. To support and train nursery assistants in the delivery of our programme

Areas of Responsibility (for Evaluation)

The Nursery Manager has oversight of and therefore responsibility for the setting and will be supported by the nursery team to deliver.  Nursery sales, HR admin and business administration sits outside of this role but should work in collaboration with Nursery team (see organisation chart).

    • Risk Assessments: To understand the importance of risk assessments which are followed HD policies and procedures. 
    • Safeguarding: To understand HD safeguarding policies & procedures, ensure you have the updated knowledge and apply on floor practice.
Regulatory / Legislative Adherence: Aware of regulatory and legislative changes to the early years environment.Inspections: Support the team with best practice and cooperate positively with Ofsted and Internal inspections.

Marketing 0.2%

  • Events: Support activities by following nursery event schedule, show-case the setting by presenting the best practice on floor.
  • Data Collection: Ensure high quality and meaningful pictures/videos are taken and report to the line manager.

Education & Floor Practice

    • Our Approach: Understand Hatching Dragons bilingual approach, and you follow the relevant instruction, policy and procedure.
    • Monthly Planning: Attend monthly room meeting to understand monthly planning. Support on renewing and setting up Outstanding enabling learning environment on monthly base.
    • Weekly Planning: Attend weekly room meeting to understand planned activities which should follow children’s next steps, interests, needs, routine and cover all development areas. 
Key Children: To be a key person for the balance of children in the room if required Children's Observations and Assessments: Understand Hatching Dragons observations, assessments and planning cycle, support on daily observation and report to your line manager. You will be supported on improving observations and assessments where necessary. EYFS in Practice: To support activities in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Understand the Standards for Learning, Development and Care for children from birth to five. Be aware of the up to date educational criteria organisation. E.g. children's learning journeys, next steps, interests, home learning, needs, pictures, cohoc track and key person boards. 
  •  Floor practice and support: Supervising children during play time; Engaging children in learning and play activities; Intimate caring and updating records, e.g. nappy changing, sleep chart, and meal quantity; Communicating with parents / carers and staff regarding any issues and developments; Cleaning and organising the resources before and after activities on daily basis.

    •  Information Sharing:  Professionally handle information sharing with parents, we do not share hypothesis, unnecessary, unrealistic, false, confidential, or personal information. E.g. practitioners should not give private contact details to parents or share other children’s information.
Complaints / Compliments: Cooperate with management in Investigations on parent concerns/complaints and ensure suitable outcomes to protect the children and business.  Report any complaints/ compliments to the line manager.Parents feedback – Any valuable feedbacks from parents need to report to the line manager.
